Donor Advised Funds
Donor Advised Funds have become very popular. The process is fairly
easy. You receive an immediate tax deduction for the amount you place in the fund. The account can
grow tax-free. There's the flexibility
for you to recommend distributions to the United Methodist causes you would
like to support. Also, there is no capital gain taxes on gifts of
appreciated securities placed into your fund. In essence, you have your
own charitable giving account. Because there can be more than one donor
and a successor advisor, families can establish a legacy of stewardship that
will last for generations.
